What Boxmark stores
Box names, item lists, notes, locations and photos you add are saved in the app's storage on your device. They are not uploaded to us or to anyone else. Boxmark has no accounts, no servers, no analytics and no advertising.
Camera and photos
The camera is used only when you choose to scan a box label or take a photo of a box's contents. Photos you pick from your library are copied into the app on your device. Location metadata (GPS) is removed when a photo is saved.
QR labels
A printed label's QR code contains a snapshot of that box: its number, name, room, marks such as “Fragile”, and the item list. When someone scans a label with a phone that doesn't have Boxmark, the browser opens a static page on this website that reads the snapshot inside the browser. The snapshot is stored after the “#” in the link, a part of web addresses that browsers never send to the server, so the contents of your boxes never reach us. Like any website, our hosting provider may record standard request information (such as IP address and time) when the page loads; we do not use analytics, cookies or trackers.
Anyone who scans a label can read its list. Turn on Private for a box to keep its name and contents off the label.
Backups and sharing
When you create a backup or share your inventory, Boxmark creates a file on your device. You decide where it goes (for example Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop or Messages). We never receive it.
iPhone Search and Siri
To let you find items from iPhone Search and Siri, Boxmark adds box names and item names to the on-device search index provided by iOS. This index stays on your device.
Purchases
The optional Boxmark Pro upgrade is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details.
Backups
If you use iCloud Backup or an encrypted computer backup, iOS may include Boxmark's data in that backup under Apple's own privacy terms.
Deleting your data
Delete a box in the app to remove it, or delete the app to remove all of its data from your device.
Children
Boxmark does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
